GLEE

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I love FOX’s new show, GLEE. It’s about a high school in which one very devoted teacher is attempting to reestablish the student GLEE club. Sort of a mix of Canada’s Degrassi: The Next Generation and High School Musical, but with a lot more dry humor and fictitious characters/situations, but it’s still very funny and real to life. Kurt is really cute and just starting to come out – Episode 4 (the latest release) is very touching. He’s just awesome!

You can catch the show Wednesday nights at 9pm on FOX. If you’ve missed episodes or just want to watch them again, you can watch them on HULU or FOX – I definitely recommend starting off with the Episode 4, Clip 1 if you have any doubts (see pic below).

Pomerania

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

The other day my family and I went to a little farm, only a few minutes away, to check out some poms they had – over 40 of them! It was a lot of fun and they were so cute and they all wanted your attention, lol. We took one of them home with us – the little tan and white one I’m holding in the picture below. Send me an email if you’re interested in buying a pom from them. We’re building a large fence that will completely enclose my mom’s property so nobody gets in the road ever again. I can’t be there to watch them now that I’m living in my Orono apt.

Yesterday was the Common Ground Fair – fun and all natural, as usual, lol. EqualityMaine is now selling yard signs and I got one, even though we already made the giant 4′x8′ that’s now very visible on Rt.3 in Belfast (see 8/29 blog post below). I’m working with UMaine’s GLBT organization to get the vote out on campus, encouraging students to request their absentee ballot and VOTE NO on Question 1.

RIP Squeakey ~ My Little Friend and Poocademon

“For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.

When you part from your friend, you grieve not;

For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.

And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit…

And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.

For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.”

~Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

The Summer Day, by Mary Oliver

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean -
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and
down -
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated
eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her
face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
